Stored values
Reviewed 31 October 2026. Written for thebooksea.com, and about this house alone. It is not a template and not a copy of another.
The complete list
Two values in local storage, placed there by this site and read by it alone. No cookie at all is set by this site as it stands.
| Key | Written when | Value | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| thebooksea_age_ok | The age card is answered | yes | So that the card is shown once on a device |
| thebooksea_consent | The storage tray is answered | granted or denied | So that the tray stays answered and the signals follow it |
What runs before anything else
The first script in the head of every page sets Consent Mode v2 to denied for ad storage, ad user data, ad personalisation and analytics storage. That is the state in which the page begins. It is not a state the page is corrected into after a tag has fired, because no tag fires.
If a tag were added
Google Analytics 4 would set _ga and _ga_CONTAINER on this domain, each for two years. Google Ads conversion tracking would set a single cookie, _gcl_au, lasting ninety days. Neither is present today and neither would be written before Allow had been chosen.
Changing your answer
Stored values, in the footer of any page, brings the tray back. Choosing to keep it off records denied and returns the four signals to off at once.
Refusing it yourself
Any current browser can refuse storage for a single site. Refusing it here breaks nothing at all: the age card is shown on each visit, which is the correct outcome and not a fault.
Not present
No social network pixel. No fingerprinting. No session recording. No external font is called at run time, the two faces being served from here. No content delivery network. A browser’s network panel records requests to this domain and to no other.
